Did you know that Bank Identification Numbers (BINs) are among the most important pieces of data needed to run Alliance One? BINs are those first set of digits on your financial institution’s (FI’s) debit/ATM and/or credit cards. They are specific to your FI and tie each of your cardholders to your FI. Alliance One uses BINs to identify participants in the alliance—and not charge them a surcharge when they visit participating ATMs.
Each month, we send BIN files to participating financial institutions of Alliance One. The BIN file provides updates of new cardholders and/or changes to current users. Because the BIN information is integral to Alliance One being a reliable resource for participating financial institutions and their ATM users, it is crucial our database contains accurate information, which is why we ask Alliance One participants to update their account information in a timely manner, when needed. BIN updates can me made online anytime at allianceone.coop. Just login to the “Financial Institution” only area with your R/T or ABA number and select the “Update BINs or Contacts” button.
Equally important to our process is ensuring each month’s BIN updates are received by the appropriate person associated with those financial institutions with ATMs, so the BIN updates get made to all ATMs in the alliance. This contact is usually the terminal driver, except in those instances where the financial institution drives its own terminal(s). You can add or update terminal contacts electronically on allianceone.coop. Login to the “Financial Institution” only area with your R/T or ABA number and select the “Update Terminals” button.
Accurate information is integral to Alliance One remaining a benefit for everyone involved, and we greatly appreciate your cooperation so that we may continue to provide this valuable service to your members and/or customers. Look for the next BIN update coming to you on December 31, 2012.
